The entrance examination for SBI clerks is conducted for recruitment and selection of candidates for clerical posts. The SBI is one of the prestigious and the largest public sector bank in India and huge number of candidates appears for the examination. The exam pattern is roughly divided into two sets. First phase is a written test occurring in selected cities over the country. This is followed by interview of the candidates selected from the written examination. Final selection is based on performance of candidates during the test as well as overall presentation during the interview.

Phase 1: Online test consisting of objective type questions: The online examination will be of total 200 marks and the duration of the test will be two hours and 15 minutes or 135 minutes. The objective-type questions are divided into four sections according to marks and questions and are as follows:

Note: Negative marks will be given for every wrong answer during the written test. For every wrong marking, 0.25 marks will be reduced from the total marks. This means that for every four wrong marking, candidates will lose 1 mark. Also, candidates need to pass in every section to be eligible for the interview. Candidates are required to score a minimum of 40 percent in every section and also on aggregate, to successfully pass the written examination For ST.SC/XS/PWD candidates; a relaxation of 5 percent is given on the general cut-off marks.

Phase 2: Personal Interview : Candidates who found success in the online test and fulfil all eligibility criteria will be invited for the interview round.
