- Indian Citizen
- Nepal Citizen
- Bhutan Citizen
- A refugee from Tibet
- Any person from Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Zambia, Malawi, Kenya, Malawi, Burma, Uganda, Zaire, Kenya or Pakistan, who is of Indian origin and wishes to settle permanently in India.
Educational Qualification for IBPS PO Exam 2016
It is important for the Government of India to pick up candidates who have exceptional skills in communication and has a good knowledge of Economics, Political Science and Mathematics. The following requirements make an ideal candidate for IBPS PO Exam 2016:
- A Graduation Certificate/ Degree in any field, but the same has to come from a University or Institute which has been recognized by the Government of India.

| Disabled people | 5 years |
| SC / ST | 5 years |
| OBC (belonging to non-creamy layer) | 5 years |
