Abu Dhabi Prince visits India

The Prince of Dubai, Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited India on a 3-day tour. The incident took place after the PM of India, Narendra Modi invited the former in his visit to UAE; the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 34 years. During the visit, talks between the Prince, Minsiter of External Affairs (India), President (India) and Prime Minister (India) were held with respect to bilateral agreements. Additionally, 9 MoUs & agreements were also signed on issues like finance, renewable energy, cyber security and infrastructure.
World Government Summit 2016 in Dubai
The 4 th edition of World Government Summit was concluded on February 10 2016 which was hosted in Dubai. The summit had participants from 130 different countries with 4500 attendees. The agenda of this Summit was to discuss the challenges which are being faced the people from across the world. Additionally, areas such as research and development was also a point of discussion where various countries came up with some innovations to help humanity to move towards a greener tomorrow.
Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf banned for 5 years
BCCI has banned the Pakistani Umpire Asad Rauf for period of 5 years as he was found guilty in IPL spot fixing. The decision has resulted in elimination of Asad Rauf for the next five years from any cricket which is played under BCCI or any of its affiliates. In the past, the same committee had banned two payers, namely, Hiken Shah and Ajit Chandila for IPL spot fixing Shah was banned for a period of 5 years and Chandila was banned for lifetime. Over the past few years, IPL Spot fixing has come up as a major hindrance in promoting transparent domestic cricket in India. Therefore, a disciplinary committee has been setup by the BCCI to look into such matters.
IIMR’s new director is Vilas Tonapi
The new director of IIMR (Indian Institute of Millets Research) is Vilas Tonapi. His appointment took place on February 10 2016. Earlier he was serving the Principal Scientist under Seed Science at the IIMR. Tonapi holds a PhD from Tamil Nadu and had completed Doctoral in Australia under University of Queensland. Till date, he has complete 50 research papers along with writing 30 books. His specialization is planning, management and development of crop improvement.
Supreme Court’s verdict on CrPC (Section 144)
On February 11 2016, the Supreme Court passed a judgement where it was suggested that mobile internet access u/s 144 can be restricted by the states if certain issues can relate to public agitation. The decision was given by T S Thakur, the Chief Justice.
37 th Rank for India in USSC 2016
The Intellectual Property Index (IPI) 2016 was recently released on February 10 2016 where Indian ranked at 37 th place with respect to intellectual property protection. The top place was reserved by the United States with points 28.61. Total of 38 countries were surveyed under the same and Venezuela was at the last place.
