South African Wicket Keeper Quinton de Kock becomes the fastest to make 10 centuries

The South African Wicketkeeper- Batsman Quinton de Kock created history on February 9 2016 in the third ODI played between South Africa and England at the Centurion. De Kock became the fastest player to reach 10 centuries in International ODIs beating the previous best of Virat Kohil, who took 80 innings to get there. Quinton did it in 55 innings. There are two more ODIs to go in the series and currently England is leading the series 2-1.
One Humanity launched by the UN Secretary General
The UN General Secretary made a major launch on February 9 2016 through a report which was titled as One Humanity. Ban Ki-Moon, the GS, emphasized on the reports concern of avoid erosion of humanitarian law. The first glimpse of this report would be seen in detail at an event which has been scheduled in May 2016. Some of the key areas of focus in this report are- preventing conflicts, safeguard humanity, sharing responsibilities and helping weaker people.
Kolkata to Tripura Railway Track costing INR 580 Crore approved
The Union Government has sanctioned the plan to connect Kolkata and Tripura through a railway track which would be crossing from Bangladesh. The approval came on February 10 2016 and the budget for the project stands at INR 580 Crore. The project will be completed by 2017 and the new track will allow a person to travel less. At present the route requires a person to cover 1700 kms via Siliguri. After the completion, the total distance would be 350 kilometres only.
National Deworming Day
The first ever National Deworming Day was celebrated in Indian schools on February 10 2016. The day is an initiative to create awareness among the children with regard to hazards caused by parasitic worms and infections. All the children who attended Government schools or Government aided schools were offered albendezole 400 mg with a view to combat the parasitic worms. The day would be followed by Mop- Up day on February 15 2016, when children who had missed the dosage on February 10 2016 would be aided with the same.
Proposal to develop INS Viraat as a tourist destination
The CM of Andhra Pradesh , Chandrababu Naidu made an announcement on February 8 2016, where plans to turn aircraft carrier INS Viraat were revealed. The proposed carrier is to be decommissioned in June 2016 and the same is being planned to be transformed as a tourism centre. The execution will take place under a joint venture between the Indian Navy and the Andhra Pradesh Government. Additionally, scope such as sailing, sea sports and other water tourism plans are also on the cards.
Pakistan approves Hindu Marriage Bill 2015
Pakistan has finally given its approval to the Hindu Marriage Bill 2015 on February 8 2016. The decision came after making two small adjustments within the bill- 1) the minimum age for marriage is 18 years and 2) the law will be applicable to every area under Pakistan.
