Marine Museum inaugurated in Digha, West Bengal

Eastern India has witnessed one of its finest marine aquarium in Digha, West Bengal, which was inaugurated on February 3 2016. The museum will allow people to see more than 500 species of fishes, corals, snakes, crabs and other marine fauna. The objective of this museum is create an awareness among the people to preserve the natural resources and stop the pollution of water. Aurobindo Mukherjee passed away
Aurbindo Mukherjee, the celebrated director passed away on February 10 2016 in Kolkata at the age of 97. With classics like Mouchak, Nishi Padma and Agniswar, he had made a special place for himself in the realm of cinema. His list of achievements included a Filmfare Award and President’s Award. Apart from being a fantastic director, he was also one of the best screenplay writer of his era. Amar Prem is one of his the best contributions from the perspective of screenplay.
Vision Assam 2030 unveiled
The CM of Assam, Tarun Gogoi unveiled a draft named as Vision Assam 2030 on February 10 2016. The draft contained a blueprint of how Assam is going to achieve sustainable development by 2030. The draft is very closely associated with the agenda which took place in the UN General Assembly in September 2015. In India, Assam has become the first state in India to have such kind of document ready for implementation on sustainable development. The document includes 17 goals, including the scope of eradicating poverty in the region, good health for everyone, education facilities, sanitation facility, etc.
EU and NATO sign Cyber Defense Cooperation
EU (European Union) and NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) signed a Cyber Defense Cooperation agreement on February 10 2016 where both the parties will now improve their cyber prevention incidents. Both EU and NATO share 22 countries as common and the cooperation has accelerated in areas related to Defense.
YES Bank and Smartbox pair up to reduce delivery returns
On February 9 2016, YES Bank entered into a deal with Smartbox to offer a better solution to the e-Commerce Industry. The new solution will be known by the name of Automated Parcel Delivery Terminals which will make the payment system much simpler for the e-Commerce unit owners. Options such as CSOD (Card Swipe on Delivery) will allow the system to become transparent and the burden of handling cash will also be resolved.
Tamar Hahn becomes the director of UNIC
On February 10 2016, the UN General Secretary Ban Ki-Moon appointed Tamar Hahn as the director of UNIC (United Nations Information Centre). She will now be serving the areas of Argentine and Uruguay. Before this appointment was made, she was serving as Resource Mobilization’s Regional Adviser. Her designation now allows her to report and engage in activities like education of the locals, partnership with the Government authorities, communicate with the private sectors, etc. She would be reporting to the headquarters of the United Nations.
