Central PSUs and Chhattisgarh Government collaborate for railway project

On January 20 2016, Chhattisgarh Government signed a share-holding agreement with other corporation of Central Government for a railway project. The project was in respect of Jagdalpur-Raoghat route’s second phase. For this cause, a (SPV) special purpose vehicle was implemented with a view to build a 142 km long railway track at an expense of INR 2000 crore. A key idea behind this project is to develop the Bastar region.

Pavel Filip becomes the new Prime Minister of Moldova

On January 20 2016, Pavel Filip became the Prime Minister of Moldova. The appointment was made in replacement of Valeriu Strelet, who occupied the seat from October 2015 to January 2016. Pavel Filip became the third Prime Minister of Maldova within a span of a year. Currently, Moldova is the poorest European country and has suffered a corruption of USD 1 billion in the banking system. This resulted in a no confidence vote by the citizens against the Government. A key person behind the scandal was Plahotniuc, one of the richest and infamous in Moldova.

Himalayan Forest Thrush, new bird species, discovered in India

The scientists have discovered a new bird in the Himalayan Range and have named them as Zoothera Salimalii. The species has been named after the famous scientists whose name is same as the name of the species. This is the 4 th bird species which has been discovered in the Himalayas since Independence of India. The discovery was made in 2009 by Shashank Dalvi and Per Alstrom when they were studying birds in western Arunachal Pradesh .

Mrinalini Sarabhai, legendary dancer, passed away

One of the finest classical dancer of India, Mrinalini Sarabhai passed away in Ahmedabad on January 21 2016. The legendary dancer was also a recipient of Padma Bhushan and was aged 97 years. Her role was also seen as that of a poet, environmentalist and a writer. She was the founder director of Darpana Academy of Performing Arts and has received numerous awards for her contribution to the society and Indian Classical Dance. She has enlightened more than 18000 students in Kathakali and Bharatnatyam.

IOA signs a two year marketing deal with IOS

The IOA (Indian Olympic Association) has signed a two year marketing deal on January 21 2016 with IOS (Infinity Optimal Solutions). The deal would allow the later to manage events such as managing sponsorship and public relations of the former under national and international events. The event is first of its kind event where a marketing agency has been hired to generate revenue for athletes.

Ettore Scola passed away

The Italian film director, Ettore Scola passed away after battling illness for a long period of time. He passed away on 21 January 2016 when his age was 84 years. He initially started his career as a screenwriter in 1953 and debuted in direction in 1964 from ‘Let’s Talk About Women’. Over a period of 40 years, he directed 41 films and retired in 2011.
