Written Exam

Candidates who qualify in the written exam move on to the next level, that is, personality test.
Personality Test
This examination is more about the test of a candidate’s character. Factors such as the ability to handle under pressure, factors to be a team player, ability to handle challenges, etc., are tested in this round. A candidate is marked out of 200 in this round and it adds to the overall score by the candidate.
Final Selection
Final Selection is made on the basis of computing the scores obtained by a candidate in the written test as well as a personality test. Both the scores are accumulated and the overall score is measured by a group of professionals, who take into account various factors.
However, there may be a situation where a candidate whose overall score is lower than others, but still gets a chance to serve the post. This mainly happens when a candidate belongs to one of the reserved quotas. It is the duty of the selectors to reserve some post for categories such as SC, ST, OBC, etc., and these candidates get access to the posts with a lower cut offs.
The Geo Scientists & Geologists Exam will be attended by thousands of candidates and each one will try his/ her level best to make it to the top of the list. The selection decision is made in an unbiased manner and the same cannot be challenged under any circumstances. The decision made by the UPSC authority is final and shall hold value under any given condition.
