The Kerala State Film (KSF) Awards 2015 was announced on March 1 2016 in Thiruvananthapuram. In the award ceremony, Dulquer Salmaan won the award for the Best Actor for having played the lead role in the moive Charlie, whereas Parvathy was given the award for the Best Actor (Female) for her role in the movie Chairle and Ennu Ninte Moideen. The Best movie for the year 2015 was awarded to Ozhivu Divasathe Kali. There were several performances by reputed actors of the Kollywood.

Mustafabad now known as Saraswati Nagar

Mustafabad, a village in Yamuna Nagar of Haryana will now be known as Saraswati Nagar by the Government of Haryana. The change was made by HRDM (Haryana Revenue and Disaster Mangement) department. The change was made after it was realized that River Saraswati’s old dried river bed exists nearby the location of the village.

50 kilometre Race-Walk won by Basanta Rana

On February 28 2016, Basanta Rana won a 50 km Race-Walk National Championship which took place in Jaipur. Rana finished in the first place by completing the race in 4 hrs, 7 mins and 24 secs. The second place in the event was occupied by Jitender Rathore, who took 4 hrs, 09 mins and 50 secs to complete the race. The event Championship Contest also witnessed events such as 10 km Race-Walk for women and and 10 km Race-Walk for junior men.

Ratan Thiyam honoured at 11 th META theatre award

Legendary playwriter Ratan Thiyam was honoured with a lifetime achievement award in the 11 th edtion of META (Mahindra Excellence Theatre Awards). The event took place on March 1 2016. Currently, Ratan Thiyam occupies the seat of the Chairman at National School of Drama and has been a key contributor to numerous fields such as writing, direction, composition, designing and choreography. In the past, people like Heisnam Kanhailal, Badal Sarkar, Girish Karnad and Ebrahim Alkazi have received this award from META.

Windham-Campbell prizes 2016

The Windham-Campbell award for 2016 was won by Pinto, an Indian author, who debuted with a fictional novel named as Em and The Big Hoom. The book was published in the year 2012 and was recognized as a good reading piece. The book is about an anonymous narrator who tries to create an understanding with her mother, who is suffering from a bipolar disorder and is continuously trying to commit suicide. The story theme of the story is based in a Mumbai and focuses upon the life of a Goan Christian.

South African Cricketer Aaron Phangiso suspended

The South African Cricketer Aaron Phangiso has been suspended by the ICC on account of having an chuck bowling action. The left-arm spinner has been found breaking his hand more than 15 degrees while delivering a ball. The limit as prescribed by the ICC states that no blower is allowed to break their arms greater than 15 degrees while bowling. His suspected action was reported during the semi-final of SA Domestic cricket, played on February 25 2016.
