Staff Selection Commission ( SSC ) conduct SSC CHSL Exam every year to recruit Data Entry Operators & Lower Division Clerks under Group “C” posts. The appointed staff will be placed in various central Government departments, officers and Ministries.
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is an India based organization which recruits staff for different posts for its large number of Departments and Ministries of the government. SSC is associated with the office of Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT ), which consists of a chairman, 2 members and a secretary who also plays the role of a controller of the examinations. Each year it recruits personnel for its departments, by keeping some eligibility criterion for the applying candidates. With no such variations SSC will be recruiting candidates this year for Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination for recruitment of Data Entry Operators & LDC.
The candidates have to be at least of the age of 18 years, however age relaxation can be provided as per the Government regulations. Relaxation in age is provided to the reserved like SC / ST / OBC category and it will be applicable as per the rule. The candidates should be at least qualified 12 th standard students from any examining body constituted by law or any other examination acknowledged by the Central Government.

The open vacancies as per the official notification 2015 published on 13-6-2015 are as follows:
- Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistants: 3523 Posts
- LDC: 2049 Posts
- DEO: 1006 Posts
The candidates can expect the official notification for the year 2016 in the month of June 2016.
SSC CHSL Exam 2016 Eligibility Criteria
In order to get selected, firstly the candidates have to fulfill the eligibility criteria.
Age Limit: As per the norms prescribed by SSC related to age are as follows
- The age should be between 18 to 27 years (As specified in particular SSC 10+2 Level LDC/DEO notification) as on 1st Aug, 2015 (Born between 2nd Aug, 1988 to 1st Aug, 1997)
- Relaxation of Upper age limit under para 4 (A) will be available for the candidates who belongs to reserved category.
Qualification : The candidates should have 12th passed certificate.
Candidates who have not qualified as on the date as specified in the notification will not be eligible
SSC CHSL Exam Pattern & Syllabus
Written Exam : The written exam and skill test will be held by SSC to recruit Lower Division Clerks and Data Entry Operator.
The selected candidates are required to sit for the written exam, followed by a round of personal interview by a panel of judges . The exam paper will have four different sections i.e., General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude with basics of Arithmetic, General Awareness and basic English Language, with a minimum of 50 Questions in each of the categories. Each question will be caring 1 mark, and a penalty of 0.25 marks will be given for each wrong answer. The duration of the exam will be 2 hours.
In the exam the candidates shall come prepared by studying the following sub heads under each category.
- General Intelligence would measure the candidates on Decision making, Similarities and differences, Space visualization, analogies and visual memory, Analysis and judgment, Problem solving, Relationship concepts, culture, Discriminating observation, and Figure classification.
- General Awareness will be on sports, geography, economic scenes, history, scientific research and general polity.
- In English Language they must know about vocabulary, error recognition, grammar, spelling, anonyms, synonyms, fill in the blanks idioms etc. and
- In aptitude they shall go through the basics of arithmetic’s like Ratio and Time, Time and Work, Decimals and Fractions, Whole Numbers, and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Time and Distance, and Averages.
Skill Test for Data Entry Operators : Only those candidates are eligible for skill test who have passed written exam. The 15 minutes test will be held for typing on computer with 8000 key depressions per hours. The paragraph will be in English containing 2000 to 2500 strokes.
Typing Test for Lower Division Clerks : The same applicable for lower division clerks as only those candidates eligible for typing test who passed written exam after getting minimum marks fixed by SSC. The candidates can choose the language in which they want to give test like Hindi or English. If the candidates choose English then the speed should have 35 words and in Hindi 30 words. It will be 10 minutes test with 10500 key depression per hour/ 9000 key depressions per hour respectively.
SSC CHSL Exam Application Form 2016
The eligible candidates have to follow certain procedure, i.e., they have to fill the application form and send the same to the department of SSC. They can fill up the form either online or offline. In case of the online filling of form one has to fill the application file online and submit it there itself. The completely filled form only should reach to the respective address before the date mentioned by the authority. The letter will be issued only to those candidates who will be filling the form accurately and those whose forms will reach before the mentioned date.
Application Fees: The fee can be deposit offline or online.
- Offline Procedure : The candidates who are filing offline application form should deposit fee of Rs. 100 by “Central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS)” only.
- Online Procedure : The candidates who are filling application online should deposit application fee of Rs. 100 through State Bank of India by Challan or by net banking.
(Notes: The women candidates, SC/ST/PH/EX are exempted from application fee)
